What to wear for your night-out under the stars
Flashback to our launch party last year, and the excitement of a new rooftop bar opening had everybody in Brisbane talking. Set amidst the fabulous glimmering city skyline, the soft opulent setting of a rooftop bar is not just refreshing but also incredibly chic and elegant. The anticipation of being able to sip delicious cocktails directly under the stars while you dance, relax, unwind, and chat with others sounded just the thing to start the weekend off right. The only question is: What to wear? More precisely, what colour outfit does one choose to look fabulous when set against the shimmering city skyline? With the green wall, soft lights, pristine white couches with accents of orange cushions and blankets spread across them, Sixteen Antlers is the perfect place to relax and enjoy yourself, whilst drinking the atmosphere in.
Some rooftop parties can be one or the other depending on the nature of the event. They can be casual fun where you dance, and mingle with friends dressed in fun, music festival inspired, cool casual wear. At these parties, comfort reigns supreme. The other type of rooftop party is a sophisticated chic one where women are dressed in sexy and sultry cocktail dresses and the men don nicely tailored suits. Classy champagne glasses, towering stilettos, immaculately styled hair, and trendy house music playing in the background, these parties exude class and elegance.
Whatever your preference, here’s some ideas for your next visit to the rooftop.
A pop of colour with Monochromes
For casual rooftop parties, you can choose to go on quite a few routes. Keep it simple with basic monochromes with pops of colour incorporated into your ensemble. Accessorise accordingly and don’t be afraid to experiment. For a soft light setting it is prudent to avoid bright vivid colours and stark contrasts. Keep it simple, minimalist, and casual trendy. This is definitely a go-to look for any age.
Bring on the night
On the other end of the spectrum are the sophisticated evenings that call for class, elegance, and high fashion. For these events, well fitted suits and sultry cocktail dresses that are bound to turn heads when you walk in are definitely on the cards. For women, a little black dress is the safest, most chic, sexy, and mystical option that flatters every skin tone and every body type. The perfect accompaniment to some French Champagne.
Deep Sultry Hues
Stick to dark earthy tones if you love to bring the drama. Dark green, navy blue, deep purple, teal, and bronze are the ideal colours when it comes to cocktail rooftop events. Start early in the afternoon to get the last of the sun to bring out the best of the colours.
Pastels to add the class
If you wish to go on the lighter route, then we suggest playing with creamy whites and pastels. Steer clear of bright hues and over-the-top cuts –you are not going to attend a ball exactly.
At the end of the day, when it comes to dressing up, there truly is no guide that can tell you what to wear. Stick to your true self and feel beautiful.
See you on the rooftop!
